Perfect Peace...

Dec 7, 2025    Werner Swart

This powerful meditation on peace invites us to discover something revolutionary: the shalom we desperately seek isn't found in our circumstances, but in a Person. Drawing from Isaiah's prophecy of the Prince of Peace and the angelic announcement at Christ's birth, we're challenged to reconsider what peace actually means. The Hebrew words 'shalom shalom'—perfect peace— found in Isaiah 26:3, speaks not merely of the absence of conflict, but of complete restoration, wholeness, and perfection multiplied upon itself. This verse also reveals the condition for receiving this supernatural peace: a mind steadfastly focused on God, rooted in trust born from truly knowing Him. This isn't the world peace we casually wish for; it's a transformative completeness that remains unshaken even when everything around us crumbles. The message confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: our level of peace is directly proportionate to how inclined our hearts are toward God. Are we running to Him first in crisis, or searching elsewhere? During this Advent season, as we light candles symbolizing hope and peace, we're reminded that every longing of our hearts finds its answer in Christ, the ultimate Prince of Peace who restores everything broken in our lives.
