Pentecost Sunday
This powerful reflection on Pentecost invites us to rediscover what it means to live as truly dynamic followers of Christ. Drawing from Acts 1 and 2, we're reminded that Jesus spent 40 days after His resurrection teaching about the kingdom of God, yet His disciples still struggled to understand. The breakthrough came when Jesus promised them power through the Holy Spirit. That Greek word for power, 'dunamis,' gives us words like dynamic, dynamo, and dynamite. This isn't coincidental. The Holy Spirit transforms us from passive, stagnant believers into spiritually electric individuals who generate power for others. We're challenged to examine our own lives: Are we dynamic or dull? Are we charging others up or constantly drained? The Holy Spirit doesn't come merely for our personal enjoyment but empowers us for witness and mission. When those first disciples received the Spirit at Pentecost, they began speaking in languages they'd never learned, reaching people from every nation. This reveals a profound truth: God will provide whatever supernatural enablement we need to fulfill His purposes. The question isn't whether God can use us, but whether we're willing to be used. Are we living with holy expectancy, or have we settled into comfortable unbelief?
