The Journey Part 2

Jul 12, 2026    Werner Swart

The second message in the series explores three profound metaphors for our Christian journey: building, running, and standing firm. We discover that just as God gave Noah exact specifications for the ark and Moses precise instructions for the tabernacle, He has a divine blueprint for each of our lives. The challenge is whether we will build according to our own understanding or seek God's design. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3 and Matthew 7, we learn that our foundation must be Jesus Christ, and we must build with materials that will withstand the fire of testing. The imagery shifts to the race set before us in Hebrews 12, where we are called to run with perseverance, throwing off every hindrance and sin that entangles us. Like Olympic athletes who train with discipline, we must consume the Word of God as our spiritual sustenance and follow the rules laid out for us. Finally, the message confronts the reality of spiritual warfare from Ephesians 6, reminding us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against unseen forces. We face three battles: against the enemy, against ourselves, and against worldly influences. The key to victory is not our own strength but submitting to God's power and putting on His full armor. Throughout this journey, we are reminded that we cannot build, run, or stand alone. We need the body of Christ, mentors, and the Holy Spirit to reveal God's extraordinary design for our lives, which surpasses anything we could imagine on our own.
