The Church that Jesus builds (Part 2)

What does it mean when Scripture tells us we are 'living stones' being built into a spiritual house? This powerful message explores the profound imagery of construction and building found throughout the New Testament, revealing how God is actively shaping us—not just as individuals, but as a unified body. Drawing from 1 Peter 2, Ephesians 2, and 1 Corinthians 3, we discover that Jesus isn't just a carpenter who worked with wood; the Greek word 'tekton' reveals He was an artisan who worked with all materials, including stone. How fitting that the One who declared 'I will build my church' came from a family of builders! The message challenges us to embrace a transformative truth: being shaped by God often means allowing rough edges to be chipped away so we can fit together with other believers. Some stones are harder than others, and the process of becoming a beautiful spiritual house requires touching, scraping, and refining. We're reminded that Abraham looked forward to a city whose builder is God, and that vision is being fulfilled in us. The question becomes deeply personal: Are we willing to be pliable in God's hands? Are we allowing Him and others to speak into our lives? This isn't about losing our identity—it's about becoming who we were truly meant to be, a dwelling place where God's Spirit lives and His light shines into a dark world.
