Follow me!
At the heart of this message lies a profound truth we often overlook: we are all followers. Whether we acknowledge it or not, our lives are shaped by someone or something. Drawing from Isaiah 53:6, we're reminded that we are like sheep who have gone astray, each following our own way. But the question becomes urgent and personal: who are we following? In John chapter 1, we encounter the first disciples making a life-altering decision to follow Jesus after John the Baptist pointed Him out as the Lamb of God. Their journey wasn't about collecting spiritual tips or joining a new religion—it was about transformation. When Jesus said 'follow me,' He was inviting them into new experiences, assigning them a task to become fishers of men, and calling them to become like Him. The ancient saying 'may you be covered in the dust of your rabbi's feet' captures this beautifully: following meant becoming. Today, we face the same invitation to join a movement of followers who are willing to experience transformation, to submit not just to Jesus but to each other in community, and to let go of influences that don't align with His teaching. The call to discipleship isn't casual—it requires repentance, humility to learn from others, and the courage to give up relationships and influences that hinder our growth. Are we willing to follow Jesus together?
